Do Unto Others What U Want Others to Do Unto You or Learn from Mistakes???

These two sayings are quite famous in our daily life.... it is being used as a reminder or good quote to advise or remind us on how to treat others on attitude and also in gaining knowledge and experience.....

Cutely, these two sayings keep on playing in my mind today - after a very 'unfashionably' and almost humiliating lunch session I have so far.....

Due to some inconvenience task requested by our' so call important client'; I arrive a bit late to join my colleagues and so call boss. It is one of the occasions where Mr. Middle Man will hang out with the group for lunch sessions, where at some instances - we manage to have our piece of mind somewhere else... but somehow - today was not the day..... Well - sometimes we do have some issues that doesn't need his ears and eyes to share with.....

So,while talking and etc..... we finally finish our lunch.... while waiting for Lady V and Lady X finishing their chit chat, I was informing on updates of my last week meeting to Mr. MM here. Well - he always says that he need to know updates of the group activities and what ever..... so here I am giving him the info for a project that he actually never involve in details... (mind u that this person is the 3rd top management level... OK - not a senior manager or supervisor)..... and there he was... fidgeting like rabbit. paying no attention to what I'm saying...

OK - fine; if I'm the one who feels like it; the facts that my other colleague noticing it too - that "I cannot put a word to it man" is really goes over board.........

So, while completing my work during the evening - makes me think..... do I give the same treatment as how he do it (instead of Do Unto Others What U Want Others to Do Unto You, I'm gonna Do Unto Others What Others to Do Unto You) or reminding myself not to do the same attitude to others (Learn from mistakes).....

In my case, will the person change if I pay attention to what ever he says in future (even though not related to work) .....or will he not? knowing him for several years - I don't think it is worth to experiment on the theory.... but we will see- which theory really works...

surprisingly - as management always preach the staff or mid level management; you must listen to you subordinates, give them direction and must take notes on their activities and performances. If any staff have problems, you can always rely on the management for direction or assistance..... my foot....

with that kind of attitude - plus the other tidbits that show your real shallow personality; people will start ignoring your words and loosing faith on your leadership......

Nobody ever says that being a leader is easy.... but when you hold the position- you must strive for the best....
  • Don't ask people to think - when you yourself are not doing the thinking
  • Don't assume that other don't understand - just because they don't give you immediate answer.
  • Don't judge a person or a group - if you never work with them or in their line
  • Don't generalize each operation - if you never involve in all operation
  • Don't jump around and say your staff is doing wrong- if you don't know the whole story
  • Don't give directions - if at the end your directions is actually a junction of no ends...
  • Don't think that they like how you manage - just because of they are smiling
  • Don't ask people to justify - if you yourself don't know how to justify.
People have eyes and ears (and some almost forgot HEART). If your voice or your action  does not portray your feeling - your body language does... so be careful.
